A Light Exists in Spring

A Light Exists in Spring

By Emily Dickinson

A light exists in Spring not present on the year at any other period—when March is scarcely here. A color stands abroad on solitary fields that science cannot overtake but human nature feels. It waits upon the lawn, it shows the furthest tree upon the furthest slope you know; it almost speaks to me. Then as horizons step or noons report away without the formula of sound, it passes and we stay—a quality of loss affecting our content as trade had suddenly encroached upon a sacrament.

April reminds us that the most vibrant blooms often emerge from freezing mud. This month, amid solemn reflections and challenging news, I’m also celebrating new growth and hopeful possibilities. From marking significant anniversaries to planting seeds for upcoming projects and community events, I’m grateful for the messy yet fertile ground that brings beauty into our lives.

Earthquake in Myanmar

On March 28, a significant 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city.  Many of you know my lifelong ties to the region. Let’s keep the people of Myanmar in our thoughts as the country faces yet another challenge.

Myanmar Earthquake Relief

A trusted friend shared this important message:

“For those who want to help, there’s no time to waste. International organizations and UN agencies often face high overhead costs, limited access due to the junta’s restrictions, and language barriers. Instead, consider supporting grassroots efforts run by Myanmar people, who have a proven track record of getting aid directly to local communities with minimal overhead. One organization I fully vouch for is Myanmar Earthquake Relief. Please donate if you can.”

Remembering Phnom Penh—50 Years Later

April 17th marks the 50th anniversary of the Khmer Rouge invasion of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, a solemn occasion to reflect on history’s lessons. My first novel, The Foreigner’s Confession, dives into the heart of Cambodia’s difficult past. It’s a timely moment to revisit this powerful story.

Can You Help? Seeking 50 Reviews!

Reviews are crucial for authors to reach new readers. This month, I’m aiming to gather 50 reviews on Amazon for each of my books. If you’ve read and enjoyed my work, please consider leaving a quick review—or even just a star rating. Your support makes a significant difference!

(Note: You don’t need to have purchased the book on Amazon to leave a review—just have an active Amazon account with at least $50 in purchases over the past year.)
